The small, 100-acre historical Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park sits beside the Nolichucky River, which provides exciting boating and fishing opportunities. A museum contains artifacts, documents and stories relating to Davy's life, and nearby lies a cabin that replicates the home he was born in from 1786. Other park features are a campground, summertime swimming pool and picnic areas. It is a 22-mile drive west from Johnson City to the park, which is located just off the highway.
